HOW IT WORKS

1

To begin using Lanimo, take the glasses out of the charging and disinfection storage box and put them on the patient. The glasses turn on automatically when they are taken out of the box. To ensure all bacteria and viruses have been killed off the surface of the glasses, make sure to keep the glasses inside the container for at least 30 minutes between patients, which is also the recommended disinfection time according to most COVID protocols.

2

Show them to the patient and explain that Lanimo glasses serve a dual purpose. They replace traditional safety glasses, but they signal pain levels by reading patients’ brain waves through embedded electrodes. Some dentists like about the glasses that the patient understand the full benefit of the glasses.

3

Put the Lanimo glasses on the patient, letting the patient adjust them for comfort. Many dentists let adults place the glasses on themselves and only adjust if needed. Remind patients that the glasses will just need to rest comfortably on the bridge of their nose and rest on each side of their head during the procedure to sense pain.

4

Observe the lights on the front of the glasses as your work. The patient’s pain level is displayed on the front with three lights – GreenYellow, or Red.

Think of them as a stoplight:

Green signifies that the patient is comfortable. You may go forward with the procedure.

Yellow indicates that the patient is experiencing some discomfort. Proceed with caution.

Red indicates that the patient is experiencing pain. Stop and adjust your procedure.

Remember that each patient will have a different level of pain tolerance. Respect what is indicated by the display even if you question whether you have done anything worthy of that level of pain. The goal is patient comfort and ease during the procedure.

MAIN ADVANTAGES

  • The dental services market is a highly competitive business with over 27,000 dentists throughout Canada. People tend to pick a dentist not only with the best quality results but also with the most comfortable experience. That’s where Lanimo glasses become indispensable for a dentist pursuing quality service and patient comfort.

  • Lanimo improves the quality of dental care by automatically detecting pain or discomfort without any need for the patient to communicate to a dentist, especially at the moment when verbal communication is highly restricted.

  • Lanimo glasses notify the dentist visually by changing colour, making it easy to notice and adjust the procedure accordingly.

  • Lanimo glasses passively sense the patient’s brain activity in the part of the brain primarily responsible for pain and show the dentist the level of pain. They are perfect for measuring pain during general anesthesia, which gives the dentist an early warning that the medication may wear off.
